I just heard from my local Amiga/PC/SGI dealer/computer gfx firm that LW is not much faster on a Pentium than it is on my 4000/040, and that a 486 stands without a chance regardless of speed... The difference in speed on a Pentium would only be noticeable in long renderings (a couple of hundred images), but the difference would not be as big. This judgement was based on tests using LW 4.0 BETA, so he couldn`t say if it was to be the same with the final version. (The SGI version ran 5x the Amiga speed though) Has anyone out there got any experience with this? Is it really true? If that`s the case then maybe I should stick with my 4000 and just add a Gfx card to speed up the display.
